Ms. Coplen was Chief Justice of the Scott Moot Court Honors Board while attending Loyola Law School. Since joining the firm in 1989, Ms. Coplen has focused her practice upon fidelity bond and property claims (first- and third-party), commercial litigation, and attorneys professional liability matters. In 1994, she co-authored with David DiBiase, an article for the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association entitled "Fidelity Bond Claims and the Covenant of Good Faith and Fair Dealing." In 1996, Ms. Coplen co-authored an article entitled "Who Is an Employee; Unidentifiable Employee Coverage," and in 1998, Ms. Coplen co-authored an article entitled "Litigation Strategy From the Insurer's Viewpoint," both for the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the American Bar Association. Ms. Coplen is also a co-author of the continuing series entitled "First Party Property Insurance Law Update." In 2004, Ms. Coplen was a speaker at the Seventh Annual Eastern Bond Claims Review LLP Program on Recent Developments Concerning "Direct Loss" Under Fidelity Bonds, and in 2006, Ms. Coplen was a speaker for the Tort Trial & Insurance Practice Section of the ABA at the Property Insurance Law Committee Annual Spring CLE Meeting on the topic of "The Chicken or the Egg: Concurrent Causation." Since 2001, Ms. Coplen has served as a member of the Committee on Professional Liability Insurance for the California State Bar, and serves as Vice Chair for the 2006-2007 term. In connection with that Committee, she is a speaker at the State Bar of California Annual Meeting, including "Practical Tips to Avoid Legal Malpractice" presented at the October 8, 2004 meeting and "Practical Solutions to Legal Malpractice and Tips on Selecting the Right Malpractice Policy" presented at the September 9, 2005 meeting.
